Description
This famous peak was a landmark during the move West, when the Butterfield Stage was a main route to CA. The limestone caves, partly hidden and easily defended, were occupied by early Indians and the Guadalupe Mountain Range is a rich field for archeologists. The caves served as a favorite haunt for bandits who preyed upon wagon-train shipments of gold and merchandise; later they were hideouts for cattle rustlers and outlaws, including "Billy the Kid". The card is in good condition, some scratches & dings, aging on the back, with wear on the corners and sides.
