Description
Nikon Coolscan V ED LS-50 Slide & Film Scanner - Works Great - w/ SA-21 & MA-21 AdaptersNikon made some of the best slide and negative scanners. This one works great and was serviced in 2017. I have been very pleased with the image quality. It connects via USB and is a 4,000 DPI scanner.
The scanner is very easy to operate. The film / negative adapter is motorized so that it can move a pre-cut strip forward and back to scan different frames. This feature can enable somewhat "unattended" batch scanning of the frames on a negative strip.
Please review the photos. In one of the pictures I’ve shown where the service repaired an enclosure fracture (
the
result is
a
cosmetic blemish
by
the power button (
which
works
fine
)
and it has not
affected
my usage).
The sale includes the scanner, two adapters (MA-21 slide adapter and SA-21 film or negative adapter), and USB and power cables.
Doesn’t include the old Coolscan software (which Nikon no longer supports). If you don’t already have scan software
compatible with the LS-50
there are
commercially-available modern, supported solutions
for both
Windows and macOS.
The
scanner
appearance is
good
though not perfect. As can be expected with vintage devices there are signs of use, wear, and aging (again, please see the photos).
If you’ve moved from scanning photos to scanning negatives, then the Coolscan V ED, like other Nikon film scanners, is awesome.
