Crown Crystal Australian Carnival Glass Butterfly & Bower Bowl, Black Amethyst
Small dome-footed bowl with a twelve-ruffled sawtooth edge. The design features three raised bowers (lattice work with leafy plants) and a central butterfly. The design on the back is known as Quilted Diamond. The base glass is a very dark amethyst, with beautiful bright multicolor iridescence. Crown Crystal began producing carnival glass in Australia around 1919. Hard to find piece, especially in amethyst.
Condition:  No chips or cracks. Iridescence is in excellent condition, with just a couple of small rubs/scratches on the back side.
Marks:  Unmarked.
Dimensions:  6 1/4" at widest point, 2 3/4" high.
Color Note: Some pictures are taken with a black background to highlight how the color of the iridescence of carnival glass can change in appearance depending on background color. Both the white and black background photos were taken under the same lighting, only the background color was changed. How the iridescence will look in your home will depend on your unique background colors and lighting conditions.
