    Description

Beautiful vintage Louis Ruckert surveyor's transit, wood case and tripod. As-found condition, I did not try to clean it. The optical functions and adjustments appear to be in working order, no cracked lenses, etc. Matching wood case is also included, with vintage repair tag inside. The transit is engraved "Louis Ruckert" and "St. Louis" and "309". A quick internet search shows Louis Ruckert sold equipment made by Adolph Wissler, also of St. Louis, as well as that of Peter Heer of Chicago and possibly others. Mr. Ruckert operated in St. Louis from around 1901 to 1910. The tripod has a warped leg as shown but is sturdy. The threads on the transit hold it properly to the tripod.
This is a great looking set with lots of eye-appeal. It is available for pickup in our store, or can be shipped insured to most areas of the continental US for the shipping cost listed above.
