    Description

Sphene, also known as titanite, belongs to the titanite mineral group. It is commonly recognized to be the only mineral of this group to be utilized as a gemstone. This beautiful facet weighs 1.97 carats and has a measurement of 7.09mm by 5.66mm. It's rich body color shows a trichroic range of green, yellow, and light traces of bright orange displaying a beautiful dispersion. Sourced in Madagascar, this natural gemstone has unique inclusions and shows no indication of treatment. The cut grade of this stone is excellent and is trillion shaped. Sphenes are known to be very rare and brilliant with a high adamantine luster, such as the one pictured. These characteristics are highly sought after as a collector's gem and are becoming a popular gemstone choice for jewelry. Scoring a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the Moh's scale, it is a soft stone prone to scratches. Care is necessary if purchasing this gem for a jewelry setting. Despite having a low hardness score, it is possible for sphenes to be worn every day but with caution. These gems are best suited for pendants, pins, brooches, or earrings, and if worn as a ring, it is highly advised it be placed in a protective setting. This gemstone can be cleaned with a soft-bristled brush, mild detergent, and warm water.
Examined by our in-house gemologist, we offer a licensed appraisal certificate upon request from a reputable licensed graduate gemologist WITH additional charges. Please contact us first to put in a request before proceeding with the purchase.
**Sphene is not currently a birthstone, but with its rise in popularity, that soon may change. As a reasonably young gemstone emerging into the gem world, there is little known in regards to myths and legends**
    Symbolism:
The urge to seek knowledge and the vast greatness of the mind.
